Car Estimate

About Autozen's used car calculation process

How we estimate your car

Our buyers are licensed car dealerships that will compete for your car. When there are enough similar listings on the market matching your car's year, make, model, and trim, we analyze those listings and adjust for factors like mileage, claims, and current demand vs. supply to estimate how much a dealer could sell your car for. We then account for reconditioning costs (necessary repairs, maintenance, and detailing needed to prepare a vehicle for sale) and the dealer's minimum profit target to estimate the price your vehicle is likely to achieve at auction. If there are not enough comparable listings available, we use wholesale data published by the Canadian Black Book (CBB) to provide an estimate.
Please note that this is only an estimate meant to give you an idea of how much your car might sell for; it is not an offer. Many factors influence the value of a car. Once your vehicle enters our platform, we will create competition among our buyer network to secure you the highest offer.

I have a question about my estimate

While your estimate is based on our algorithm, it's our service and business model that will get you a higher price than ICOs, dealerships and other car-selling agencies. Autozen provides valuable insights on how to estimate car value.

What is my car worth?

The value of your vehicle depends on several factors but starts with the general trends on your make, model etc. and the supply and demand for your vehicle in the market around us. The market drives the final value that our buyers look at when bidding for your car.
Our valuation estimate tool  should be used for estimation purposes only.

Things that could help add value and maximize your offer

  • Features that are in high demand or rare, for example, navigation system, sunroof, leather seats, backup camera, Apple/android car play.
  • Factory accessories such as original tires, two sets of keys etc.
  • Tire treads that are not too worn - tire tread depth can impact the value of your car, in fact, some dealers will have to replace tires entirely in order to re-sell it. Be sure to let us know if you have an additional set of wheels/tires.
  • Low relative KM for the age of the vehicle
  • Consistent service records
  • Less than $5,000 in accident history (CarFax). Claims above $10,000 can significantly decrease the value of a vehicle
  • Having a “spec sheet” makes a big difference for German cars (BMW/Mercedes etc).
  • Having something that shows your car’s exact add-ons/upgrades helps us identify the features that can really boost your car's value.

What won't add value to your offer?

  • Most mods and customizations (outside of lifted trucks)
  • Avoiding or downplaying the disclosure of issues or damage (An Autozen agent will come to check the car before the auction or before the sales is finalized and lack of disclosure won't change the final transaction value but only delay the process

Autozen vs the competition

When the time comes to sell your car, the 4 main ways to sell a vehicle include: ICOs, dealerships, and selling private or online auctions.

Each used car has unique details and backstory just as each seller has a unique situation, needs and goals. What works for one seller and their car may not be the best option for another.
On this page, we've listed the pros and cons of each selling platform to help you understand your car selling options.

Autozen falls under the online auction category. Online auctions happen in real-time just like a regular auction but it's all done online through a special bidding platform with a specific time limit. Registered buyers/bidders compete against each other to win your car. More buyers drive the final offer price even higher.

How is Autozen different from other car-selling platforms?

  • It's super easy safe—just a few clicks from the comfort of your home
  • No strangers, no haggling and no stress
  • Autozen is your advocate and brings you the best offer from 100s of dealers
